Annual Recital

Our 2024 Recital is booked for 30 November to 1 December, at the Lake Wanaka Centre theatre.

Each year we celebrate the end of the year with a production incorporating all dancers in the school.
It is professionally directed show that allows students to present to their families and friends the results of a year’s hard work, dedication and progress.  We take pride in costuming our students beautifully & employ the professional services of lighting & sound technicians for the full theatre experience.

A large part of our dance training is preparing for stage performance. It is an incredibly fun experience for all involved.  For some, this will be the first experiences and start of a career in the performing arts industry.  For many others, it will help build self-esteem and confidence not only with their dance but in other aspects of their life too.  The rehearsal process is a tremendous learning experience. While creating a class group item, dancers learn to collaborate and communicate with one another, problem solve and create together.

STAGE REHEARSALS

The majority of rehearsals occur during class time in the studios during September to November.  During the week leading up to the Recital, each class meet at the theatre for a stage visit (Thursday), and a dress rehearsal (Friday).  The stage visit includes an orientation & run through of groups items on stage (no costume).  The dress rehearsal is a practise run through of the entire show in costume with full theatre lighting and sound. Parents and students will be notified of any additional rehearsals in school newsletters.

SHOW DAYS

We normally have 3-4 shows.  This includes a Junior Showcase which includes our gorgeous preschoolers.  We also have 2 matinee shows on Saturday/Sunday afternoons and one evening performance.
