More about Anna Thomas (Owner)

Anna's background stems back to the Waikato where she enjoyed Ballet, Jazz, Tap & Performing Arts competitions throughout her childhood.  She obtained her Advanced Royal Academy & Intermediate British Ballet examinations through the tuition of Margaret Fairhead, Carol Speirs, Prue Gooch & Louise Hurley. Anna gained a nomination to dance at the National Performing Arts Ballet Competitions at the age of 15 and enjoyed attending many dance school camps in Auckland, Napier & Wellington.

Her Jazz dance grounding was predominantly under the direction of Keri Davies at Drury Lane Dance School where she obtained her Solo Seal (NZAMD) & later Advanced American Jazz examinations at Directions (Hamilton).

Her greatest love was for muscials and stage performances.  Due to the lack of Performing Arts pathways available when leaving school, Anna began teaching for Margaret Fairhead School of Dance while studying Leisure Management & Marketing at Waikato University.  She also enjoyed dancing in many Musical Shows in the Waikato & Wellington - including Oklahoma, Drury Lane Theatre professional cabaret perforances, West End to Broadway, & Ovation.  She was also fortunate to learn from many highly acclaimed dance teachers in NZ, Australia & London. 

After a business career in Sport, Agirculture & Ski industries for 15years, her interest in dance was recently reignited. 

Anna purchased Dance Wanaka in October 2011 from Rachel Erichsen (founder of Dance Wanaka), and is excited to be sharing her passion for dance again.
